My highschool son participates in JROTC and has to carry many things in his backpack. The backpack has to be rugged, ergonomically sound as much as a backpack can be, and hold alot. So far, this has fit the bill! Though it is technically not a school backpack, if it can survive a high school boy who plays sports and participateson JROYXSeems fine, haven’t used it yet. Got it because it meets airline carry on dimensions. Typical of these tacticool packs, it is relatively heavy.Got this bag for ALC so far it’s is holding up great mind you I have only been using it for a month est.Great bag, lots of space and sections. It is a bit heavy - it's great as a travel backpack, but I recommend something a bit lighter for a daily commuter bag. This has become my go to bag for short trips (1-4 nights).UPDATED REVIEW, YEAR 3.----I'm still happy with this bag but I will highlight some of the places it has broken down. I use this bag almost every single day. The zipper pulls (not the zippers themselves) came off on several of the zippers after only a couple months. They are somewhere in the bottom of my bag but there is no simple way to get them back on that stays. Maybe I should try hot glue. The "water bottle" side pockets are still holding together but the elastic at the top is breaking away from the pocket on both sides but not enough to cause items to come out or loose.Other than those two items, the bag has held up in all of my travels. I wish it was a little bit lighter but it is very solid. It is a good rugged back-pack that will likely last a while, but it’s a bit pricy. I think you are paying for the tactical look and strapping. The material is sturdy and the zippers are covered, which helps keep the interior dry if not using the rain cover. I wish it had some smaller zippered pockets on the inside, instead of the 2 large ones, and I wish the other open top pockets had zippers. I keep smaller loose items in that section, but it’s hard to organize it well. It does have some additional zippered pockets on the exterior that are good for sunglasses, small camera, or similar. The padding and shoulder straps are comfortable, and the interior volume is just right for 2-3 days.Sturdy backpack with large pockets. Exactly what I was looking for.Fabric seems durable. Holds everything I need for my classes. My one complaint is that the cords attached to the zipper heads come off very easily. Once it's off you need to knot it back on to be able to use the zipper. I had one come off within the first 5 minutes of using the bag.Overall a good bag. Quality control or the designers of the zipper handles need to rethink it though.I use my Tru Spec elite for everything I do. Traveling, School, trips. Cool back pack. I must say the only con is the zipper string comes off easy. That can be easy fix if you by something stronger for that. Thanks! This bag is my go to, I use it every day, even grocery shopping as there are no more plastic bags where I live. I’ve had a year to wear it around the world and it hasn’t let me down.I’ve used the conceal carry pocket for my glock 19 which fit nicely. I used it for school and travel and a day pack. My nalgene fits nicely in the water bottle/utility pocket. It is durable and haven’t had issues.3 critiques: there is nothing to hook the rain cover on to on the top of the bag besides the carry handle which leaves 2 inches of the top exposed. This was an issue only in very heavy tropical rains. It is so close to covering the whole bag it was a bit disappointing when full coverage was actually needed. Light rain and it isn’t a big deal though. The other critique is the shoulder straps are sewn right next to each other at the top of the bag. This means if you like tight shoulder straps, the shoulder straps will tend to pinch around you neck, and will chaff if you are running or walking for a long time.Last, I really had to do some serious strap management with this thing when I first got it but i used some tricks so there are no extra dangly straps so that ended up not being an issue either.Besides those issues I’d call this perfect. :)
