Description
Lightweight and streamlined, the Fairview Series is an ideal travel pack for fast-moving globetrotters. Despite their minimalist weights, these women's specific, full-featured packs offer plenty of organization and travel-focused features. The zip-off daypack provides additional storage and is perfect for carrying around town by itself. The stowaway harness and hipbelt disappears for safe keeping when you check your bag, and durable fabrics offer added protection. A large panel zip provides convenient access to the main compartment, lockable sliders keep your gear secure, dual front compression straps slim down your pack when you carry less, and a padded laptop/tablet sleeve keeps your electronics secure.

I LOVE this bag!! We traveled to Italy & this was my first time with a heavy duty backpack (I've never even hiked/camped/back packed). When I measured my torso I was in between the Small and Medium size, I went with the small and I think it worked out great (I'm 5'2'', 135 lbs, and petite frame). I traveled to Europe as light as I could and I was easily able to bring the whole bag as check on, I even got the larger bag into the overhead of the small 2x2 small plane!! I was concerned about the two straps at the bottom (the sleeping bag straps) possibly getting entangled when I checked the bag home, and although Osprey says they are removable they are extremely difficult to remove. Even with contacting Osprey I eventually had to trim the straps on the side a bit and try for a long time to get them loose. If you have the same concern, just remove before your trip or just cut them off, Osprey says you can buy replacement straps if you want. The bag checked home perfectly. I had a few small breakables that I packed in the center of the bag (as securely as I could) and everything arrived safely. But honestly any big breakables just ship it home, or just focus on your trip, you don't need to bring gifts back for everyone :)I made it a goal to keep the bag weight below 30 lbs at the start of the trip, but the bag really wasn't bad to carry. If you stand too long just take off till your on the move again. It was really handy being able to put the small bag in front to reach it easier, but its much more comfortable for weight distribution to be attached to the main bag for the longer walks. The bag can get a bit hot since there isn't great air flow on the back side (for the big and little bag), but since I don't have anything to compare it to I didn't have any complaints, it wasn't a big deal to me.I did purchase the travel bags to help with compressing and organizing and I think that greatly helped keep the bag small and for maintaining weight distribution. The smaller bag is great for daily use, but really I prefer a full sized regular backpack since the daily bag is a bit on the small side. But if you don't buy a lot of stuff then the small bag is good. I love the small bag has the collarbone strap that is adjustable also, makes it very comfortable!FYI the Misty Gray is more of a light army green in my opinion.Remember, bring half of what you think you need and twice as much money! Your back/hips will thank you for it!I wish I could give this 3.5 stars, as that's what it really deserves. It fits everything, but because of that it's also basically too big. I rounded up because of durability, and because it comes in a smaller size, so being too big for my tastes is also basically my fault. This thing is a beast, holding way more stuff than you need for most vacations. It's heavy duty and feels durable, and it carries surprisingly well for something that is essentially a large duffel bag you can strap to your back. I appreciate that the entire top panel zips open, as it was easy to find everything quickly. I took it on a three week vacation where high temperatures ranged from 50-85 degrees F, and I fit everything I needed in the main compartment, including three extra pairs of shoes. However, it was huge, and when wearing it I really had no idea where the back of the pack was, and I needed a lot of open space to swing it onto my back (not great in trains or metros). The smaller backpack, however, is kinda useless in many situations, as it's quite small and oddly shaped. I went on an afternoon hike and it barely fit my lunch, water, camera, and an extra layer. The outside pockets fit my 0.5 L water bottles, but would not have fit anything larger (like a 1 L Nalgene bottle). I never wore the small pack in front, though that does seem like a nice feature - in theory. But with such a small bag, I generally wanted a larger day bag to fit the stuff I needed each day, even on days that were mostly transit.I bought this Osprey backpack for my wife's birthday in May 2021 for a trip to Northern Italy in July. She used it for the first time on our trip last month. However, as soon as we got to Italy and packed up to leave on our first morning, my wife discovered that the little metal tab on the zipper that attaches the smaller backpack to the larger backpack had fallen off. With a little work, we got the zipper to stay without the metal tab, but we had to mess with it every single time we used the small bag, which was an inconvenience. When we returned to the U.S., I contacted Osprey about fixing the bag. They agreed to fix it, but I had to pay $30 to ship it to them. So it cost me about a 20% premium from the price of the brand new backpack I bought just to get it fixed. I thought Osprey charging me to fix a new bag was outrageous. On a more positive note, these backpacks are typically great for international travel. This pack is very large and, if the zipper works, convenient. I bought this one because my wife had used our daughters' 70L Osprey backpack and liked it. My daughter used her bag on trips to Iceland and Ireland, and my wife used that bag on a trip to Spain, Italy, and Greece a few years ago, and then she borrowed it again on a trip to London. (I have a smaller 55L Osprey bag with a similar design, which hasn't had any of the quality problems this one had.) We have never been stopped from using these Osprey bags as a carry-on for several international flights. Just be sure to unzip the smaller bag when you board the flight, so that it will fit in the overhead bin. Hence, this is yet another reason why the zipper on the smaller bag breaking on the first use was such a disappointment for us.Given the $30 upcharge to get a brand new bag fixed and given that we won't have that new bag bag for 4 to 6 weeks while it is being repaired by Osprey, I'm not sure that I'd ever buy another Osprey backpack. We'll see how long it takes Osprey to fix this backpack. Hopefully, Osprey will work on their quality control and respond quickly.Overall this is a really lovely bag. Once you have it on, it feels nicely balanced and very comfortable. I love the zip off day bag too - it's a lovely bag to wear by itself.A couple of negatives though: when it's full, it's quite difficult to get it on and off. I went on a train journey with multiple stops, and I had to balance it on a seat to climb into it. Also, I'm a bit dubious about the adjustable straps at the top near my neck - they appear to be holding a lot of weight and they don't seem well reinforced. The other thing is that there isn't a lot of inner structure, so it's easy to pack it badly and make the bag look lumpy. I'll need some packing cubes for my next trip.Purchased for a months back packing trip. I had done my research on many back packs and what appealed to me was the ease of accessing things like a suitcase. My only concern was if it would be comfortable without a good back support system that to loaders have.I was so happy that I made this purchase and saved money buying on amazon rather than direct with Osprey at time of purchase.I had so many comments from other travellers in dorms at their envy at ease of my unpacking n packing or accessing my stuff.I had no issues with weight on my back once hip belt was fastened. It travelled on many planes, boats, trains and buses and still looks as new. Another great feature is the straps can be zipped up so they are protected from any damage that often happens when they are loose in luggage holds. The day rucksack can be zipped to main bag when travelling to airports or just wanting to have the one bag. Cannot fault this product at all and would recommend for anyone who wants hassle free luggageI was slightly nervous buying this backpack as I saw a lot of reviews saying the daypack is too small and unusable. I'm not really sure what those people are trying to put in the pack because I was able to fill mine with a Canon camera and two lens, binoculars, my laptop, notebook, Kindle and more. The daypack is a great size in my opinion. We have used Osprey products for travelling abroad and this was brought for the smaller attachable Ruc sac / day bag which is zipped to the larger bag and brought for my wife. A great product and secure and comfortable to wear. The shoulder straps then securely zip into the rear of the bag so they don’t get caught when loading onto vehicles or when travelling by plane. Great productI was concerned it was going to be too small but it's just perfect. A lot of room and very easy to access and take things out. The small one is quite small so if you're going hiking and need to take extra warm clothes or food it might be a bit small. I went to the Philippines with it and it had enough room for a hoodie, some food, a bottle of water, book etc. It's perfect to use as a carry-on and for the day.I wasn't carrying too much weight but it really felt very light and comfortable. I would definitely recommend it.
