I have a Deuter 26. The difficulty with that is I have a tendency to keep chucking things into it and consequently it gets heavier and heavier. Great for using as a carry on bag on the airlines. I have a Deuter 15. That works well in the city for going back and forth to the office every day as it holds my lunch and a few other things. I bought the Deuter 20 as a comprimise. I plan to use it for hiking in the mountains in Spain this summer. Should hold lunch, water, a light raincoat, light towel, and a swimsuit. Only disadvantage is that the side outside pockets are not transparent so I can't put the flashing red lights in it that I use when walking to the University in the early morning hours; both the Deuter 26 and Deuter 15 have mesh pockets that are ideal for that purpose. But the Deuter 20 (which is what I am reviewing) is very light weight and I am very happy with it so far.Likes:+ Purpose driven i.e in this case minor hiking, few smallish items and windbreakers.+ Color scheme. I love it. Very slick.+ Weight: Super lightCons:- Price. Around $65 for this?..Come on now..- Size for everyday use: Do not expect this to be something you can use to comfortably carry a 13 inch laptop and other larger items. If it's lighter flexible items you are intending on stuffing in this pack, then you are in good shape. If it's a bunch of books, laptop etc for work/school eh- look elsewhere.- Overall look: depending on your frame/size (broad shouldered dude, 220lbs, 6 feet tall) this bag can look ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. Don't believe me? check the image attached. I either feel like the hulk, or a grown man-child. I'm fine with both, I just don't need to be reminded about this at the office..Final thoughts:All things said I love the bag, but will scope out the 20L one. I have filed for a return, so if you'd like a deluge of images of me shoveling various things in it for the next 15 days or so to get a sense of what all can fit, then send me a message; I'll try and entertain them.If you care about how you look when you wear this pack.. I am 6'2" 160 lbs and this thing looks absolutely ridiculous on me. It is a lot smaller than I had anticipated. The colors are right on though, I bought the navy/blue/red one and it is AWESOME looking. Sure I catch some flak because of how small it looks... "Matt, give that kid his pack back" ... "Its a good frickin pack, man. So shush it." Actual quotes from a real conversation the first time I wore this pack hiking. If you care about how this pack performs.. this is an outstanding day hike pack with room enough for a 3l hydration bladder, a few snacks, cell phone, small first aid kit, a lightweight rain jacket and more. It doesn't make your back sweaty and the straps were still comfortable even after a six hour hike. I recommend getting a hydration bladder because the pack really isn't big enough to accept your 32oz Nalgene.Hope this was helpful.Enjoy :)15 liter Deuter, green for female, 5’8”, 140 lbs, C cup (—related to fit with backpack straps)Pros-Light and sturdy.-Easy to pack it inside suitcase (for travel)-Functionally “large enough” small top pocket for wallet, keys, energy bar, smal headphones, etc.-Very comfy even when chock full with water bottles (I have terrible back problems)-Fit well (female, 5’8”, 140lbs, mid-broad shoulders, C cup)-15 Liters big enough for light rain jacket, headlamp, light jacket or Down light jacket, small book, large Bose on-ear headphones/case, snacks, with room-fits 2012 ipad.-nice green colorCons-No front open “shovel” mesh stash pocket or daisy chain to add stretch cords for make-shift stash place—this is the biggest drawback-pack gradually tapers on the bottom which is almost indiscernible from inside, but the little plastic clasps that attach the light weight “belt” on the bottom of the back panel are mildly and periodically annoying.I would buy this pack again. It is 95% perfect and i can rig up some kind of bungee cord stash area in front. So far, I’ve used this for hiking and a few trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios and Knott’s. Light weight with ample room for water bottles, snacks and a small towel (Splash Mountain). Vented back is helpful and so far it seems pretty tough! Will update if anything changes. This is a good bag and honestly if we didn’t have an early version I’d give it five stars. The pulls on this bag are a little small which I find to be a little frustrating. The bag tapers toward the bottom which helps with comfort but can be annoying at times when you’re trying to fill the bag with longer items because you’ve got more room at the top of the bag then at the bottom. It’s a quality product, I’ve had the older version for about 5 years and it’s still going strong and I expect it that this one should last us a very long time too.Big enough to hold jackets for both my partner and me. The zip pocket on top will hold a phone, keys, and small odds and ends. I've run with it on a few times and it has minimal bounce considering the size.i am on my 3rd day pack. first one tooo heavy..2nd one had a hard frame. this one seems to fit what i need. i am 5 ..7 140 lbs. need one to do day hike..nothing more. it has great side pockets for water. my only concer is not enough compartments and zippers. but time will tell !!!I have always used the Deuter Lite series as being a runner. The product is perfect and light weight. The upgrade version has made an improvement on al already great product. The handle for the zips are small, the handle on the top of the bag too is small, and shorter straps leading to less bits flapping around whilst running.Great product and highly recommended. Going to find an excuse to upgrade my SpeedLite10...This is a day backpack, which I use all the time including in town shopping. It has a pocket for keeping a range of essentials for going walking/hiking e.g. tissues and wet wipes, bottle opener, sweeteners, whistle, lightening cable, battery re-charger etc. The main part of the bag will hold a rolled up jacket, a fleece and a camera and still have room for a pack of sandwiches. There are two drinks holders, which are self evidently useful when out for the day for small bottles of water or 500ml bottles. Great bag and would definitely recommend it because it will last for years. It is well made and very comfortable. Seems tobesturdy and durable, of course I will know more when I have had it a whileBought for husband who's constantly putting things in my bag. He loves it! Fits nice and snug on his back & is well balanced with it's comfy wide shoulder straps. Ideal size for daytime use, though expands well to get plenty of stuff in it. Not many pockets but that's not causing any major problems.Excellent bag. Wanted as something I can use when cycling but with minimal weight. It has limited structure (as expected) but will comfortably hold an extra top, iPad and a few nibbles. Also separate pocket for keys, phone etc. Great colour too
