At 5'2" and 90 lbs with a slender torso, I found this backpack adjusts perfectly and takes the pressure off the shoulders. The greatest benefit (other than the small-person sizing) is the AirScape technology that keeps your back absolutely dry with a stiff lattice that separates the bulk of the pack from your body even as it is secured to your back. The zipper is deep, and the main compartment big enough for a jacket, snacks, and poles, with a very generous inner mesh compartment that fits sunscreen, sanitizer, power bars, keys, phone, and small wallet. The scratch-free second outer pocket is surprisingly deep—I use it to keep my sunglasses and earphones but there's room for more. One of the belt pockets is slightly larger than the other; the bigger one will fit a small phone but will NOT fit the ubiquitous giant phone everyone seems to carry around these days, including me (see photos). Hydration bladder is external to avoid internal spills and can be clipped at the top to keep it from sinking down. Poles are stowed easily while hiking without assistance, with one loop at the bottom of the pack and the top (adjustable) loop secured to the harness. The only downside for me is the belt pockets sit at the waist rather than the hip—but this is a small sacrifice considering the light weight and snug fit of the pack. Just remember to reach for your phone or snacks with the opposite hand, or figure out a way to avoid twisting the arm on the same side of the belt pocket to avoid damage to that shoulder. My 13" MacBook Pro fits in the main compartment as well, so I'm planning on taking it as a carry-on for hiking trips. This pack is perfect for day hikes and a must-have for small hikers!Additional note: the harness is attached to the pack behind the hydration pocket and undoing the Velcro will reveal a zipper without a handle. I thought the pack was defective at first, but this area is only used by the manufacturer to get to the AirScape if it's in need of repair.
